HTC announces Ice Cream Sandwich update for handsets

HTC users, fear not! You will not be left behind by other Android users who already have the Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich update. In a Facebook post, HTC announced that updates should be rolling out by the end of March. That seems like a pretty long time to us, seeing as it was available to Nexus S owners since mid-December, but hey, we’ll take it.

HTC says that the first round of ICS updates will be for the Sensation line, (the original one and XE, soon to be followed by the XL) and then in later weeks, the EVO 3D, Incredible S, Desire S and Desire HD.

We think that HTC stepping up their updates and speeding it up to their units would be to their benefit, because despite having some of the most well-designed devices around, they’ve sadly experienced a couple bad turns when it comes to sales. We’ve reviewed some of their units and they’ve always scored high with us, so we’re a tad disappointed that it’s taking longer than expected for the 4.0 update to get to users.
