Samsung Galaxy S III out of MWC 2012, gets its very own event instead

So it's now confirmed. The Galaxy S III will not be part of the festivities in the upcoming MWC 2012 after all and, instead, the upcoming Korean superphone will have its own launch.

Looking back a bit, we really thought the Galaxy S II's successor will be unveiled at MWC 2012 especially since Eldar Murtazin (the popular Russian tech blogger who seems to have the inside track on things like this) said that will be the case. As it turns out, the Ice Cream Sandwich sportin' quad-core device is poised to sashay from the catwalk at a different event, something that we've actually got wind of prior to this announcement. Sammy sent the following statement to Techradar:

“Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012. The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.”

It looks like Samsung is willing to play the waiting game, but why? Maybe they just want to ensure everything's perfect with the Galaxy S III to help ensure it will also be best-seller like its predecessors? Maybe they think it's just too big to be merely a part of the show? Maybe they found bugs and glitches on the device *knocks on wood*? A lot of maybes there. Guess we have to happy with the simple fact that it is coming for now. As they say, good things come to those who wait. Let's see if this holds true on this one.
